Frank R. Paul
From the Weird Strange Archive
Frank Rudolph Paul (1884–1963) was an Austrian-born American illustrator known as the "Grandfather of Science Fiction Art." With an architectural and mechanical drafting background, Paul established the foundational visual language of 20th-century speculative technology, mega-cities, alien fauna, and spacecraft.
Paul painted nearly every cover of Amazing Stories from its 1926 launch through mid-1929 and served as the first Guest of Honor at the inaugural Worldcon in 1939.
