Shortly after this premier issue dropped, rival publisher Ziff-Davis threatened a lawsuit over the similarity between Fantasy Magazine and their flagship digest, Fantastic. Consequently, publisher John Raymond altered the title to Fantasy Fiction starting with Issue #2.
