Weird Strange is a curator of forgotten art. We search out remarkable work that history overlooked, restore it with care, and bring it back into the world on clothing and prints made to be kept.

What we collect

Our collection spans centuries: ancient and classical works, old master paintings, early scientific and natural history illustration, and the bold commercial art of the twentieth century, from vintage magazine covers to Golden Age comics. What ties it together is nothing obvious. Each piece is strange, striking or simply too good to stay lost, chosen one at a time for how it looks and the story behind it.

Restoration

Surviving originals are often faded, stained or damaged. Every piece is carefully restored from the best source we can find, repairing what time has worn away while staying faithful to the artist’s work, until it holds up at full size.

Credit where it’s due

Many of these artists went uncredited in their own time. The Weird Strange Archive documents every work in our collection: who made it, where and when it first appeared, and the pieces it lives on in today.
